A few of the usual considerations in choosing property are tax considerations, the neighborhood, view and proximity. However, there are some factors that often slip our minds, like safety and security of the house.

With the increasing crime rate nowadays, another one of the top – and often neglected-- priorities in the housing industry involves the safety and security of the house. Burglars all over are developing new ways of breaking into homes, fortunately recent developments have also armed homeowners ways to prevent these occurrences.

Basically, the main goal of burglar proofing a house is just that – staying safe from burglars. Although it might sound expensive, the sacrifices entailed in arming the property would be extremely beneficial in the long run because aside from a burglar proof house, the property’s value would eventually go up.

Doing this “burglar proofing” is fairly easy considering the latest amenities nowadays.

Installing modern devices like smoke alarms would take less than an hour and would not require too much expertise. Locks should also be presents and firmly in place, whether located at the gate at the door or at windows, it is vital that the locks are strong and stable. Peepholes are simple yet necessary additions to every door, allowing you to “peep” and see the person on the other side. An overhead light would also be beneficial during nighttime, allowing you to see and identify visitors after the sun has gone down. Providing curtains would also be a big help in preventing possible burglars from looking into the layout of the house. Placing cameras is also an option although this would be a bit more expensive than usual.

However, it is also important to note that depending on the built of your house, it is best to research the most probable safety measures that would protect your property as well as maintaining its elegance.
